Joining an Orienteering Club like RACO gives you access to emailed event information, results and invites to a number of special events throughout the year. As a Club member, you are eligible to score points in the two Gauteng Performance Logs, with a further incentive to win age category prizes at the end of each Series. There is also a reduced entry fee for Club participants at every event. Become part of the RACO family, in our specially designed O' kit, that is cool and hardy for the roughest conditions! Family membership is a mere R380 per year!
Historically, RACO is the Orienteering Section of the Rand Athletic Club (RAC), a running club in South Africa. While previously having close links to the running Club, RACO operates autonomously, with a Committee, a fee structure and its own membership listing. All the rules of Orienteering are governed by the South African Orienteering Federation (SAOF). RACO contributes to Orienteering in South Africa by organising events on the National and Regional Calendar, in addition to providing its members with information on all aspects of the sport, as well as unique training opportunities. Several RACO members have previously been selected to represent SA in International competition. RACO is very family orientated (pun intended) and regularly organises social evenings and a chance for everyone to get to know one another.
Membership to RACO is open to all; a nominal membership fee is charged.
